Do I need to book an appointment or can I just walk in?
We strongly encourage patients to make appointments to ensure minimal waiting times and to allow us to provide you with the best possible care.

However, we do accept walk-in patients during our opening hours, but please be aware that priority will be given to those with appointments.

We have walk in only on Saturday & Sunday

How do I book an appointment?

To book an appointment at North Strathfield Medical Practice., you can easily do so by calling our reception team during our operating hours at 02 9763 2864

We offer flexible appointment scheduling to accommodate your busy schedule. If you have any specific preferences or requirements for your appointment, please let our reception staff know, and we will do our best to accommodate them. We look forward to assisting you with your healthcare needs at North Strathfield Medical Practice.

Emergencies will always be given priority. Our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any delay or your GP has been called away. Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our receptionists if you require some extra time.

PLEASE NOTE
Antenatal pregnancy visits, childhood immunisations and cervical screening (pap) tests are done on weekdays only, please make reception aware of the this when booking your appointment, as an extend consultation may be required.

Sedatives, sleeping tablets and opioid medications are not prescribed at this practice.

Medical Certificates and Specialist referrals cannot be backdated.

Workcover – The decision to accept care for new claims will be at the discretion of the individual Doctor.

Do you bulk bill?

Yes, we bulk bill with a valid Medicare card for most general consultations.

Please note, all new patients shall be charged for a standard  and long consultations. This only applies for the first visit, thereafter you will be Bulk Billed as our regular clients. This includes patients who have not been to the Practice for three years or more.

Please note certain services or procedures incur additional fees.

Do I need an appointment to get a script?

Yes, a doctor’s appointment is needed. In the interest of patient safety, prescriptions should ideally be requested and provided during a consultation with your doctor. However, we are conscious that, in some, rare circumstances, an urgent repeat prescription may be required.

  • The patient must be a regular patient of the practice

  • The patient must have been seen in a face-to-face consultation by one of our doctors within the last 3 months 

  • The medication must have been previously prescribed from our practice.

  • The prescribing doctor has FULL DISCRETION and may refuse to issue a script with no reason or explanation necessary

  • Please make sure that you book an appointment with your regular GP for further prescriptions.

Do I need an appointment to get a referral?

At North Strathfield Medical Practice, patients typically require an appointment to obtain a referral from our general practitioners. This ensures that our doctors have the opportunity to assess your medical condition, discuss your healthcare needs, and determine the most appropriate specialist or service for your referral.

During your appointment, please communicate any specific concerns or reasons for needing a referral to your doctor. They will evaluate your medical history, current symptoms, and any necessary diagnostic tests to determine the most suitable course of action.

If you believe you need a referral but do not currently have an appointment scheduled, please contact our clinic 02 9763 2864 to book an appointment with one of our experienced doctors. Our friendly reception team will assist you in arranging a convenient appointment time.

In order for an urgent referral to be issued

  • The patient must be a regular patient of the practice
  • The patient must have been seen in a face-to-face consultation by one of our doctors within the last 3 months
  • The patient must have discussed the reasons for the referral with their doctor at a prior consultation or previously had a referral to the particular specialist from our practice.
  • NO referral will be back dated, so please do not ask
  • The referring doctor has FULL DISCRETION and may refuse to issue a referral with no reason or explanation necessary

 

No online prescriptions or referrals via telephone request will be issued

How do I obtain my test results?

Test results can be obtained by scheduling a follow-up appointment with your doctor. Your doctor will advise when they expect results to arrive at the practice.

When should I arrive for my appointment?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time. Please bring your Medicare card, any relevant health insurance information, a list of current medications, and any recent test results or medical records that may be pertinent to your visit.
What if I am running late?

If you find yourself running late for your appointment at North Strathfield Medical Practice,  please notify us as soon as possible by calling 02 9763 2864. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, causing delays in your schedule.

While we strive to maintain punctuality and minimize waiting times for all our patients, we will do our best to accommodate your situation. However, please note that if you arrive significantly late, it may impact the length of time available for your consultation, as well as inconvenience other patients who have appointments scheduled after yours.

If you anticipate being delayed, please contact our clinic 02 9763 2864 to inform our reception team. They will advise you on the best course of action and may be able to reschedule your appointment for a later time if necessary.

Your medical records are confidential documents. It is the policy of this practice to maintain the security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff (reception included} as well as being secured on our system.
Patient Feedback and Complaint Resolution
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care or have a complaint about a possible breach of privacy, please discuss the matter with your Doctor or practice staff and complete a Complaint Form, which is available at reception.

This will be dealt with by the Practice Principals who will contact you to discuss and resolve any issues.
